Hello, my name is Jim Van Dyke. I am an Electrical Engineer and I have always loved Electronics. When I was young I would get old radios and such from people I know and I would open them up just to see what was inside. Some of the older items had vacuum tubes. Most of the items did not work when I got them. Some I was actually able to make work.

Then in High School I decided to take the Electronics Program through our local Vocational Technical High School. This was a big turning point for me, because I was actually able to create working electronics from parts. I really enjoyed that. I built a radio tuner and an audio amplifier. In my Senior year I built a robotic arm and programmed it. The Robotics field was very fascinating to me.

I decided to take Electrical Engineering in College. Due to my exposure to Robotics I also took Microprocessors and Robotics as a Minor. At the end on four years I had a BS in Electrical Engineering and an AS in Microprocessors and Robotics.

Video Games

I had most of the early Video Game Consoles, such as Atari 2600, Atari 5200,  Colecovision, and SEGA Master System. Then when the next generation video game consoles came out I was buying them for my children and me. We had the Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo SNES, SEGA Genisis, SEGA CD, TurboGrafx-16. My children loved video games almost as much as me. :o )

Then came the next generation video game consoles, which used CDs instead of cartridges. These included SEGA Saturn, and Sony Playstation (PS-ONE). While Nintendo 64 was still using the cartridges for games. These were the last game systems that I bought for my children.

A while after the next generation came out I bought them for when my children visited. These included SEGA Dreamcast, Sony Playstation 2, Nintendo Game Cube and Microsoft Xbox. I did not buy many games for these systems, because my children would bring their games when they came to visit.

Recently I decided to buy the Nintendo Wii, because my wife Sara and I decided to lose weight and get in better shape. The system came with Wii Sports and we bought the Wii Fit and other fitness apps.

Movies

I love movies almost as much as video games. I have a 60″ wide screen with surround sound that makes it seem like we are at the Theater when we watch movies at home. I like the Sci-Fi movies such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Journey to the Center of the Earth, etc. I like Action and Adventure movies like Indiana Jones, Tomb Raiders, National Treasure, etc. I like the movies based on comic books such as Superman, Spiderman, X-Men, The Hulk, etc.

This website brings together many of my passions. There are reviews and information about new Consumer Electronic devices. There are reviews and previews for many of the new movies being released. There are reviews and previews of the movies that are coming out on DVD. There are reviews and previews of some older movies that are stioll available on DVD.

I hope you enjoy the information and that it can help you make an informed decision about which to buy or pass up.
